Do This! If You Wash Your Hair Daily

Washing hair daily truly is a time-consuming and somewhat messy routine especially if you have long hair and you follow an early office duty. I personally followed the practice of washing hair during intermittent days, but it lead to excessive dandruff and tremendous hair fall. Which is when I shifted to follow a no-harm daily hair wash routine.



If you are somebody who wishes to follow a daily hair wash routine without damaging your hair, here is the routine I follow. It is true that without proper care, washing your hair daily can help keep it clean and fresh, but it can also lead to dryness, breakage, and damage.

In this post, we'll share eight tips for washing your hair daily while keeping it healthy and beautiful.

Daily Hair Wash Tips for Men & Women

Tip 1: Pick a Wash Time

Pick a hair wash time customized for you. I have long hair, which I find difficult to dry after washing. So I either wash my hair early morning or before a goodnight's sleep. But my husband prefers morning wash as his hair dries fast before the office and he mostly prefers a wet look. 

A preplanned time helps you to avoid last-minute hurry buries and the need for excessive hair dryer use. 

Tip 2: Pre-treat with Oil

I always apply a few drops of hair oil on the crown portion of my head, hair tips, and finally a small massage with the oil left behind on my palms. I usually follow a quick and small quantity oil application on weekdays. On weekends, I go for a detailed oil massage, hair mask, etc for detailed self-pampering. 



Applying a small amount of oil to your hair before shampooing can help prepare it for cleansing and reduce damage. Use natural oils such as coconut, argan, or olive oil, and apply it evenly to your hair, especially on the ends. My personal favorite is 1 teaspoon of olive oil and half a teaspoon of coconut oil. This will also help to retain moisture in your hair.

Tip 3: Use a Sulfate-Free Shampoo

The real fact behind sulfate-content shampoo is that, its presence helps to remove dandruff from your hair. It is preferred if you are not a frequent user of shampoos. But, if you wish to wash your hair daily and keep dandruff away, go for sulfate-free shampoos. 

Sulfates in addition to removing dandruff are harsh chemicals that can strip your hair of its natural oils, leading to dryness and breakage. Use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo that cleanses your hair without stripping it of its natural oils. Make sure to lather up the shampoo and massage it into your scalp for a thorough clean.

Never use your nails to scrub your hair. Massage with your fingertips. Scratching your scalp not just removes dandruff, it pulls the hair strands along with it.

Tip 4: Dry Your Hair with Care

After washing your hair, use a soft t-shirt or microfiber towel to gently squeeze the excess water out of your hair. Avoid rubbing your hair vigorously with a towel as it can cause frizz and damage. Instead, wrap the towel around your hair and let it absorb the water for a few minutes.

Tip 5: Detangle Your Hair with Care

Before combing or brushing your hair, use a wide-tooth comb or a brush with soft bristles to gently detangle your hair. Start at the tips and work your way up to the roots, being careful not to pull or tug on your hair. This will help prevent breakage and damage to your hair.


Tip 6: Air Dry to Maximize Results

To prevent damage to your hair from heat, avoid using a hair dryer as much as possible. Instead, let your hair air dry naturally, or use a diffuser attachment if you need to speed up the process. This will help your hair maintain its natural texture and avoid frizz.

Tip 7: Take a Shampoo Break

You do not have to use shampoo 7 days a week. Limit it to 3 to 4 days, and replace it with a plain water wash or any other light natural wash. Keep a check on your dandruff levels so that you can decide when to use shampoo and when not to.

Tip 8: Frequent Combing

Dandruff is the main reason, everyone prefers shampoo washing. Always try combing your hair at least three times daily with a wooden comb to run through every area of the scalp. Any undisturbed area on your scalp is a habitat for dandruff. Disturbing their formation is one way to keep them from spreading.
